Governance

The UKDNA has been incorporated as a private company limited by guarantee in the jurisdiction of England and Wales. This was done on July 3, 2007. The registration number with Companies House is 6300165. Approval to use the word ‘Association’ was obtained and Companies House also permitted exemption of using the suffix ‘Limited’.  Consequently, the legal name is officially "Domain Name Association".

As a result of being an ‘Association’ there are two core principles integrated into our Memorandum and Articles:

1. Not-for-profit
The UKDNA is not allowed to work with a view to profit.

2. Equal voting
Every member is entitled to one equal vote. No weighted votes allowed.
